“Steelcase is a USA company founded in 1912 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. It designs and manufactures office furniture, always taking into consideration the environmental impact of its products, that is why most of their products have certificates, such as ANSI/BIFMA, SCS and Cradle to Cradle.
Sustainability is key for Steelcase, therefore, it looks forward to be in an environmental friendly space, which was the main reason to pursue the LEED Certification for the Mexico City’s headquarters.
The project was carefully planned so that the space could reduce its carbon footprint, at the same time that it allowed the occupants to enjoy a better environmental quality. This was one of the main reasons why Steelcase decided to locate their new Mexico’s headquarters at building Torre Virreyes, which is LEED certified under Core and Shell, v3.
The efforts that the project’s team took to enhance the sustainable features of the project can be seen in the interior finishes, due to the carfully chosen materials that were installed; as well as the controllability of the lighting and HVAC systems. Furthermore, Steelcase educates their employees, their clients, and their visitors, so that they become aware of the green attributes of the project and how to get good practices to support the green policy of the company.”
